Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• Athletic Coaching License: Hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (5-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department, and complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Coaching Experience: Have previous successful coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the elementary or higher level, demonstrating a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the sport and the ability to develop and implement effective coaching strategies.
• Leadership and Communication Skills: Possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and manage a team of athletes, as well as communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.
• Flexibility and Availability: Be available to work evenings and weekends, as the coaching role requires participation in games, practices, and other team activities outside of regular school hours.

Preferred qualifications include experience working with elementary-aged athletes, a background in education or a related field, and certifications in first aid and CPR.
