Core Responsibilities and Expectations
As an Athletic Coach for Girls Basketball, you will be responsible for organizing and supervising a comprehensive sports program that fosters growth, development, and success among our student athletes. Your primary objectives will include:
- Developing and Implementing Training Programs: Design and execute practice sessions, training drills, and game strategies that enhance the technical, tactical, physical, and mental abilities of our athletes.
- Leading and Mentoring: Serve as a role model and mentor, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to help our athletes achieve their full potential and develop a strong sense of sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Game Preparation and Strategy: Analyze opponents, develop game plans, and make tactical decisions during competitions to ensure our team is well-prepared and competitive.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Athletic Coaching License: Hold or be able to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (5-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department, and complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
- Coaching Experience: Have previous successful coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the elementary or higher level, demonstrating a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the sport and the ability to develop and implement effective coaching strategies.
- Leadership and Communication Skills: Possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and manage a team of athletes, as well as communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and the broader school community.
- Flexibility and Availability: Be available to work evenings and weekends, as the coaching role requires participation in games, practices, and other team activities outside of regular school hours.
Preferred qualifications include experience working with elementary-aged athletes, a background in education or a related field, and certifications in first aid and CPR.
