Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team remotely. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with customers and patients, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Develop strong relationships with valuable customers and model excellent customer service practices.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy manager, personnel Pharmacist, and store supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug records.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, and report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.
- Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle coins as required.
- Assist with stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs.
- Maintain knowledge of company asset safety procedures and document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
Essential Qualifications
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Basic math skills, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Previous work experience with Walgreens.
- Desirable math skills, including accuracy and attention to detail.
- PC certification or willingness to obtain.
Training and Development
Walgreens offers a comprehensive Pharmacy Technician training program, recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program provides:
- Foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences.
- Preparation for Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
- 8 college credit hours, recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE).
