Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students.
  • Provide positive educational experiences for students, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Assist teachers with instructional activities, preparing materials, and managing classroom resources.
  • Monitor student behavior, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure a productive and respectful learning environment.
  • Perform various tasks as assigned by teachers or school administrators, including but not limited to, supervising students during activities, assisting with clerical tasks, and maintaining classroom organization.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills, staying up-to-date on best practices in education and classroom management.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful as a Classroom Monitor, you will need:

  • A minimum of 60 semester hours of completed coursework from an accredited college or university, verified by an official transcript.
  • Two letters of recommendation, with at least one from your last employer or cooperating teacher (for education graduates), signed and dated.
  • Completion of the STEDI Subskills Online Training Course, with a valid Sub Diploma certificate.
  • A strong commitment to working with students, teachers, and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, either as a teacher, substitute teacher, or in a support role.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Familiarity with Broward County Public Schools' policies and procedures.
