Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact with patients seeking medical assistance and support from their doctors
  • Build trust with patients and provide compassion and empathy using customized scripting
  • Accurately document patient needs prior to the patient speaking with a nurse
  • Handle inbound calls from patients and respond to their inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Utilize excellent listening and comprehension skills to determine key information from patients
  • Multi-task while speaking with patients and accurately process and document information
  • Escalate situations as necessary and defuse conversations to resolve patient concerns
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred
  • 1+ years of customer service experience required
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills; ability to multi-task while speaking with patients
  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills; ability to determine key information from patients
  • Professional, courteous telephone voice; ability to defuse conversations and escalate situations as necessary
  • Dependable, reliable, and trustworthy; ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to type a minimum of 25 wpm
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment test and have a successful background check and reference check

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of healthcare experience desired
  • Inbound call center experience preferred
  • Call Center, Medical Office/Clinic, front desk, or first point of contact in a customer service environment preferred
  • Bilingual Patient Coordinators must be able to converse in Spanish and document in English simultaneously
  • HIPAA experience is a plus

Remote Work Requirements

To work as a Patient Coordinator with AccessNurse, you will need to meet certain remote work requirements. These include:

  • A reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum bandwidth speed of 23 megabits download and 10 megabits upload
  • A reliable telephone line, at the employee's expense, with a land-line phone or a voice-over line provided by the same company as your internet
  • A dedicated workstation with enough space to accommodate company-provided equipment, including two 27" computer monitors, a computer, keyboard, mouse, and dial pad/phone
  • A HIPAA-compliant workspace that protects PHI and prevents disruptions during work hours

Training and Support

We provide comprehensive training and support to our Patient Coordinators to ensure their success in the role. Here are some details about our training program:

  • Paid remote training class that begins January 13th, 2025, over Zoom
  • 100% attendance is required for the entire training period
  • Week 1: January 13-17, M-F 9a-5p Eastern
  • Week 2: January 20-24, M-F 11a-7p Eastern
