Job Overview and Responsibilities
As a Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan University Hospital, you will play a vital role in assisting our nursing staff in providing high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the safe treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Providing emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms and equipment
- Assisting with vital signs, including taking temperatures, blood pressures, and pulse rates
- Supporting the nursing staff with various tasks, such as preparing patients for exams and procedures
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient information
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of a Nursing Assistant program, BOCES, or Military Hospital Corps School, or equivalent, with current New York State CNA certification
- Alternatively, completion of a Nursing fundamentals course or equivalent within an RN program, or a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Nursing Assistant
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of safety and infection control practices
- Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience required
- BLS or CPR/AED training required, accepted from the American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (no online programs will be accepted)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:
- Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Basic life support certification
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs)

Compensation and Benefits
