Role Purpose and Responsibilities
As a Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Navigating electronic health records to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information, and maintaining patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA.
- Managing a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to calls and providing excellent customer service.
- Leveraging critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for calls and taking appropriate action based on caller needs and acuity.
- Scheduling patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verifying and updating insurance, and checking insurance eligibility.
- Maintaining proficiency in and sharing knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions.
- Communicating directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours.
- Managing calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience.
- Typing Test: Minimum speed of 35 wpm, 90% accuracy.
- Location: Must live within 1 hour of St. Louis, Missouri.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent healthcare experience, preferably in a customer-facing role.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and patient communication systems.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
