Job Title: Estimator – Plumbing & HVAC (Commercial New Construction) Location: Pennsylvania (projects across PA, NJ, MD, and surrounding states) Can work remotely Employment Type: Full-Time Company Overview Whitegate Construction Group, is a rapidly growing mechanical contractor specializing in large-scale multifamily, commercial, and institutional new construction projects across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland, FL, TX and more. We are entering a high-growth phase, scaling from $10M to $50M+ annual revenue, and seeking an experienced Estimator who can support this trajectory with exceptional accuracy, initiative, and attention to detail. Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate and competitive plumbing and HVAC estimates for new construction projects. This role involves interpreting plans and specifications, preparing detailed takeoffs, developing bid proposals, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and collaborating with project management and executive leadership to ensure all bids are aligned with company goals and profitability targets. You will work directly with the VP of Estimating and General Manager to price upcoming opportunities. Key Responsibilities • Analyze architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and civil drawings to prepare accurate material and labor takeoffs. • Develop complete estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and markups. • Review addenda and RFI responses, adjusting estimates as needed. • Collaborate with the purchasing department to secure supplier quotes and ensure competitive pricing. • Prepare bid summaries, proposals, and qualification packages for submission. • Participate in pre-bid meetings and post-bid reviews to improve accuracy and competitiveness. • Support the project management team during project handoff by reviewing scope, budgets, and potential value-engineering opportunities. • Maintain up-to-date pricing databases and productivity benchmarks. • Utilize company estimating systems (e.g., QuoteSoft, Togal AI, Excel-based templates, and internal cost databases). • Assist with AI-driven estimating tools currently in development to streamline future bid workflows. Qualifications Required: • 5+ years of experience estimating commercial plumbing and/or HVAC new construction projects. • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, including piping, ductwork, fixtures, and mechanical equipment. • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating software such as QuoteSoft, Trimble, or equivalent. • Excellent organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills. • Strong written and verbal communication. Preferred: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • Experience with multifamily or large commercial projects ($1M–$10M scope). • Familiarity with Textura, Contractor Foreman, or QuickBooks Construction integration. • Experience supporting design-build or value engineering efforts.
