Job Overview

The Information Engineering group at blithequark is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to manage the development and sustainment of products for our Media business. This role will involve various data engineering activities, such as maintaining and enhancing data acquisition processes, data validation processes, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and overall process alerting strategies. As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will play a critical role in partnering with Decision Science Products, Decision Science, Client, and Technology colleagues on various development and sustainment projects, ad-hoc requests, prototyping, and research initiatives by providing data pipeline and database engineering services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gathering data requirements, source-to-target mapping, data validation scripting, and review.
  • Data visualization, creating and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines, designing and implementing database schema/tables/views, and producing datasets as input to science models and representations.
  • Utilizing advancements such as SQL (primarily Snowflake and PostgreSQL), Python, Docker, Gitlab, and Airflow to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data engineering services with business objectives.
  • Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering to continuously improve processes and services.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and maintenance.
  • Proven knowledge and expertise using Python and SQL (ideally with Snowflake).
  • Experience with developing in a multi-environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOP practices for code management/development.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining automated job schedulers.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and functionality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture and product offerings, ideally AWS.
  • Experience managing and deploying code using a source control product like GitLab/GitHub.
  • Experience using Docker.
