Medications may be in a variety of forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning, dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy, jejunostomy care, and catheter care. Schedule consists of 12-hour shifts, working 38-48 hours per week. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure an adequate supply of medications and materials are available. Receive and deliver various information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in receiving and giving shift reports. Communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure appropriate care is provided by the interdisciplinary team. Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on newly admitted residents. Assist with the development of minimum data set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, observations, treatment, and summary of resident progress. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Understand the effects of the aging process and practices associated with team nursing. Implement treatment plans for resident/patient care while adhering to federal and state regulations. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish effective work relationships.
