Job Description Summary
The Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Francophone Language, Literature, & Culture to begin August 2023. Candidates should have a record of excellent teaching and scholarly work in teaching French language, literature, and culture at all levels. This position will assist with student placement and advising; collaborate in materials, curriculum, and online course development; and coordinate conversation and lab activities. The department's faculty teach and engage in research that both shapes and benefits from a rich multi-disciplinary environment. The preferred candidate has expertise in second language acquisition, and digital media in the classroom. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Teach undergraduate courses in areas of expertise and perform department and/or university-level service.
This position will assist with student placement and advising; collaborate in materials, curriculum, and online course development; and coordinate conversation and lab activities.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)
M.A. in French or a closely related field, or equivalent degree by August 1, 2023.
Required Experience (minimum requirements)
A record of excellent teaching and scholarly work in francophone literature & culture, broadly defined.
Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the university level and evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable Education and/or Experience Film/Cinema background, broadly defined as world cinema
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)
Native or near-native fluency in French
