We are searching for an experienced Inpatient Coder to perform coding of all diagnoses and procedures of Hospital Inpatient visits in the established time frame, meeting established productivity and accuracy standards. Will perform a variety of duties both within and in support of the Health Information Services including accurate coding of all diagnoses and procedures in the established time frame, meeting established productivity standards, etc. Responsible for providing coding for at least two types of records such as Inpatient, Same-day Surgery, Observation or ER. Provide mentoring and training to other coders as needed. Responsible for maintaining professional credential through AAPC or AHIMA and all related continuing education units required by the credentialing agency.May provide functional or technical supervision over the employees in same or closely related classification, where the scope of supervisory responsibility is limited to occasional direction, guidance, explanation, training, etc

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of three (3) years related work experience with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS is required.
  • Experience coding Hospital Inpatient encounters is required
  • Equal to completion of 1 or 2 years of CAHIIM accredited college Medical Coding program or equivalent knowledge & experience required.
  • Working Knowledge of 3M software preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Apprentice (CCA) or Certified Professional Coder CPC is required.
  • Completion of Coding Certificate or Degree through a CAHIIM accredited program, or the equivalent knowledge and experience required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years related work experience with CPT-4 and ICD-10 is required. Working Knowledge of 3M software.
  • In-Depth knowledge of Local Medical Review Policies and National Coverage determinations are required.
