This position is defined as "Remote" because the Control Room Operator will remotely control operations from a distance. However, this position will report to an office location in downtown Houston.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The CRO is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all Plant equipment under their control in accordance with written plant procedures and under the direction of the Remote Operations Center Manager. In the absence of specific orders and/or directives, the Operator exercises initiative, using experience and good judgment in Plant operation. Comply with plant policies including those concerning safety and environmental.

The CRO operates from established and well-known procedures under general directions and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines. The CRO encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional variations from the norm.

The CRO has the authority to control the operation of the Plant, and must do so in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times.

The CRO must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow Plant personnel, relative to the condition of the Plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for Plant improvements. The CRO must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.

Reports To: Remote Operations Center Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound operation of plant equipment
  • Properly operate Control Room, combustion turbines and plant auxiliary equipment during normal and emergency operation
  • Communicate information clearly, both orally and written
  • Troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems
  • Operate various computer systems to receive, analyze, comprehend and input data
  • Monitor and record data available through the use of various instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures
  • Implement Plant Emergency Procedures as needed
  • Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Communicate conditions of plant system and equipment to others
  • Apply knowledge of gas power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision-making and work tasks
  • Operate computers and printers
  • Discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals from control panel
  • Work without supervision inspection while carrying out duties
  • Take, record and analyze readings of various electrical and mechanical meters
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate various switches and valves and the effect each has on the total operation
  • Meet physical requirements of the job such as perform tasks while standing, walking, climbing and squatting
  • Performance of duties requires working rotating shifts and response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Five or more years of experience operating Aero derivative combustions turbines.
  • Experience with GE Mark V1e control systems
  • Excellent technical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership characteristic and potential
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and perform effectively without close supervision.
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail required.
  • Ability to use discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information.
Other Desirable Skills:
  • Be able to perform effectively in a team environment without close supervision,
