We are looking to hire a Market Senior Director for North America. This role in partnership with the SVP/GM atmos and atmos Japan leadership team, is responsible for driving the atmos North America growth strategy and delivering the P&L for the North America market. The Market Senior Director leads a cross functional team (in collaboration with Foot Locker, Inc. geographical and matrix peers) to identify and pursue strategic opportunities that serve the consumer, scale the business and improve profitability in North America. It includes responsibility/accountability for product buying, product planning, marketing, digital, store operations, etc.
This includes:
1) developing marketing, product, market planning and financial plans
2) partnering with vendors and other external companies to uniquely position atmos in the market
3) identifying strategies to build brand and digital presence and increase the customer base
4) improving efficiency, expenses, and gross margin. It is critical that you foster alignment and partnership with the global atmos team, delivering consistent brand promise across regions.
Responsibilities
Business Performance:
- Deliver the P&L targets for atmos North America
- Scale atmos? North America footprint, including new brick and mortar market entry and digital business growth
- Drive increased sales and margin by growing omnichannel traffic, customers, and conversion
- Improve business profitability and lever key expense metrics
? Business / Technical Functions:
- Drive and execute the atmos global strategy in North America, in partnership with the SVP/GM atmos Global and atmos Japan leadership team
- Lead the North America cross functional team to deepen customer and market understanding, identify key opportunity areas for the business, and evolve with market learning
- Develop and execute key strategic priorities for the North America business, including execution roadmap, milestones, and deliverables for each area
- Leverage Foot Locker, Inc. global and North America resources to help deliver key needs for the market
? Product Strategy:
- Oversee product buying, allocations and planning, delivering on performance targets
- Develop and manage effective relationships with local product vendor teams, establishing a strong position in the North America marketplace; diversify the vendor network
- Work with vendor community on emerging trends, assortments, and business strategy
- Work with planning team to develop open to buy and vendor plans that meet or exceed the sales, margin, and turn plans
- Accelerate adoption and sales growth of atmos private label business
- Oversee the management of merchandising to ensure that product is at the right time and place to meet the customer?s needs
? Business Planning:
- Develop strategic and financial plans to deliver the business, including short term, annual, and long range plans
- Determine and track against key KPIs, milestones and deliverables to execute strategy and achieve plans
? Omni-channel Marketing:
- Regional alignment with global marketing strategies, optimizing for local execution to help achieve brand, category, and channel goals
- Accountability for North America marketing budget
- Develop and lead omni-channel GTM approach that drives customer awareness, acquisition, retention, loyalty, and advocacy; ensure that atmos has a modern GTM offense that keeps pace with our fast changing consumer
- Oversee all e-commerce, digital and social media strategies, and execution
- Leverage consumer insights and market research to shape marketing strategy
- Drive clear and consistent focus, storytelling, and brand voice across marketing touchpoints
- Support brand and product collaborations, identifying opportunities, scoping potential partners, and building business cases to inform go/no-go
? Business Partnership:
- Partner with SVP/GM to align and deliver strategic roadmap, communicate upward with senior global leadership to demonstrate progress for the business
- Collaborate with global atmos team to promote alignment and cohesive execution across regions
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Foot Locker, Inc. functional matrix teams to help execute opportunity areas for the North America marketplace
? Staffing:
- Lead and develop a strong North America-based team to deeply understand and deliver against the market priorities & plans. Solid line (product (buying, planning & allocations), marketing, digital, and CX) and Matrix / dotted line (HR, finance & supply chain ) reporting across all functions.
- Establish an agile, fast-paced test and learn culture to drive business learning and results
- Leverage the North America region / globe while remaining agile to quickly test and learn in the marketplace
? Business Compliance:
- Work with legal, HR, and store teams to monitor and adhere to the relevant legislative, regulatory, insurance, ethical, corporate governance and industry standards in North America (including statutory and corporate reporting requirements)
? Organizational Compliance:
- Maintain the organization?s core values (integrity, leadership, excellence, service, teamwork, innovation & community) at work and when representing atmos at external functions and events
- Adhere to all Foot Locker, Inc. policies, procedures and guidelines.
- As leader of the atmos North America business, establish an innovative, consumer first business culture while holding the team to highest standards of ethics and ensuring robust understanding of and compliance with the Code of Conduct
? Industry Monitoring:
- Be a student of the market ? deeply immerse in customer and competition to understand and prioritize opportunity areas in the business
- Monitor emerging issues, trends, opportunities and best practice innovations in the retail, sports and fashion industries and to monitor the status of the major competitors of atmos North America
? Project Management:
- Undertake additional projects as directed by the atmos SVP, GM
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Strong experience in Strategic & Business planning and Product Merchandising (Buying, Planning, and Allocations).
- Sound knowledge of the Retail industry (preferably sneakers/streetwear apparel and fashion).
- Sound knowledge and exposure to key retail functions, including buying, product planning, product allocations, operations, marketing, and digital.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams and work in a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strategic planning acumen with strong analyitical, financial management, numeracy and budgeting skills.
- Ability to be decisive, negotiate and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to innovate and learn quickly.
- Natural Networker.
- Solid Computer Technology Skills (Advanced MS Excel / Intermediate MS Office / Power Point).
- Be able to travel 20% within North America the bulk of it in DC/Philly/NY.
- A passion and knowledge of the atmos brand a plus.
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $189,000 - $236,000 /year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below:
