The Wediko NY Internship Coordinator works at a 9-12th grade transfer school coordinating our student internship program funded by the Learning to Work initiative. The Coordinator works with students to place them at paid internships both in-school and with community partners, and collaborates with the Wediko team to oversee hiring, onboarding and supervision. Bilingual Spanish required.



How You'll Be Making a Difference


  • Responsible for maintaining and managing all LTW related data

  • Expected to attend Wediko NY at The Home and LTW Professional Development opportunities

  • Facilitates individual- and group-based trainings to build skills, competency, and professionalism

  • Oversee and conduct application, interview, and onboarding to parallel a real-world employment process

  • Match students with internships appropriate to their interests, maturity, and skill level

  • Perform regular site visits to monitor student intern performance

  • Model professional behavior, communication, and presentation

  • Provide guidance to students addressing performance issues and encouraging interns to self-advocate when needed

  • Maintain and develop professional partnerships to provide internships that build skills within a variety of employment fields

  • Facilitate workshops on resume building, interview skills and career readiness

  • Administer HR documentation, timesheets, performance contracts and other necessary paperwork

  • Facilitate communication between students, families, partner organizations and school staff

  • Assist with issues of school- and internship- nonattendance

  • Provide crisis counseling, mediation, and social-emotional support as needed

  • Participate in staff meetings and staff development opportunities

  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary team of Wediko and school staff to create and monitor individualized plans to support student progress

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s Degree required, advanced degree in the Social Sciences, Public and/or Education Policy Administration (e.g., MSW, M.S. Ed, MPA/P) a plus.

  • 3 years? experience providing school-based direct service or residential treatment

  • 1-3 years? experience with job development, staff supervision, human resources, or other relevant areas

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Commitment to working from a strengths-based perspective

  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development, proven use of supervision to improve practice

  • Bilingual Spanish required

  • Salary range is $45,000-$55,000
