ICF's Environment and Planning Division is seeking a Historic Preservation Specialist to lead and/or contribute to built environment and cultural resources studies as either stand-alone projects or as part of larger multi-disciplinary projects.



You will combine your technical skills with strong regulatory compliance expertise to develop project-level analysis and programmatic solutions for NEPA and Section 106 compliance (And state compliance, as applicable). The Historic Preservation Specialist will work closely with our senior historic preservation specialists and archaeologists on project work, with opportunities to direct and mentor early career team members.

What you will be doing:

  • Evaluate resources for National Register of Historic Places, develop resource management recommendations, assess project effects on resources, and provide high level support to address complex management challenges that require technical or regulatory knowledge

  • Provide technical expertise in architectural history, including technical approach development, self-directed technical analysis and documentation, and collaboration with junior and senior technical colleagues

  • Participate in technical leadership on projects related to environmental compliance and cultural resource management, including client contact, task order management, budget monitoring, schedule, and subcontractor coordination

  • Contribute to marketing and proposal efforts for cultural resources opportunities or as part of a larger team on multi-disciplinary opportunities

  • Collaborate in an integrated team with engineers, scientists, planners, regulators, and other stakeholders

  • Work with other cultural resources staff who provide technical support in field and office settings

  • Integrate with clients to achieve long-term objectives and efficiencies, from programmatic strategies and feasibility studies through implementation, operations, and maintenance

What you must have (minimum qualifications):

  • Master?s degree in Architectural History or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Cultural Resources Management (CRM)

  • 1+ years experience with architectural history/ built environment field studies

What we would like you to have (preferred skills):

  • Specializations such as historic architecture, historic landscapes, public history, history, conservation, or historic interpretation

  • Command of NEPA , NHPA, and other state and federal environmental regulations

  • A history working with private and public sector clients and regulatory agencies

  • Knowledgeable in the history and architectural history of the Southeastern U.S.; knowledge related to other regions of the United States is a plus

  • Interest in developing or enhancing leadership skills to contribute to a progressive work environment for employee development and career fulfillment

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and variety of GPS equipment

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is: $51,333.00 - $87,267.00
