Job Summary



The Environmental Safety and Health Program (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining business processes that drive compliance with federal, state, and local Health and Environmental and Safety requirements and drive continuous improvement. The EHS Program manager be the company lead on product stewardship. The EHS Program Manager will research, recommend, and implement best practices. They will work collaboratively with other EHS staff and with key business leaders to implement EHS initiatives. They will contribute to both the strategic and operational functions of the Environmental, Health and Safety team.

Product Stewardship 40%



Lead efforts to improve product EHS data stored in company information systems by working collaboratively with the Compliance Data and Patterson IT teams.



Analyze safety data and recommend and implement safety initiatives to continuously improve safety performance.



Provide subject matter expertise on EHS compliance issues regarding Patterson products including TSCA and Prop 65.



Provide guidance to internal partners on product hazard communication requirements and serve as the key point of contact for 3rd party Safety Data Sheet vendors.



Work with established 3rd party Safety Data Sheet (SDS) vendor partners and internal business teams to improve SDS management processes.



With the support of the Compliance Data Analyst and using data software tools such as Excel Pivot tables and MicroStrategy, produce and analyze large EHS data sets for regulatory reporting and analysis.



Safety and Health 25%



Collaboratively plan, develop and maintain EHS policies and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations and industry best practices with other EHS staff.



Conduct routine on-site audits and inspections of physical conditions, safe work practices and behaviors, and appropriate preventative actions.



Provide subject matter expertise in key health care safety topics including bloodborne pathogens, automation safety, fall protection, and ergonomics.



Work with the Safety and Health Manager to provide consultative guidance to site leadership and other stakeholders on safety issues.



Serve as a company representative for external safety audits and agency inquiries.



Conduct post-incident investigations of serious workplace injuries.



Environment and Hazardous Materials 25%



Create a process with key business partners for new item evaluation and ensure that applicable compliance requirements are met with new item set up in IT systems. Drive related new item set up process improvements to ensure compliance with EHS and DOT requirements.



Conduct review of new items distributed by Patterson and facilitate compliance with applicable transportation and environmental requirements.



Work with the Environmental and Hazardous Material Manager to provide consultative guidance to site leadership and other stakeholders on environmental issues.



Support implementation of hazardous materials compliance policies and procedures, in collaboration with fulfillment center operations, to ensure Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods are stored, handled, and transported safely and in compliance with 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.



EHS Training 10%



Develop, implement, and monitor safety training for employees, including on-line training, on-site training, and train-the-trainer initiatives.



Support learning management system content and reporting.



Provide communication content for internal communication mechanisms in collaboration with the Regulatory Training and Communication Specialist.



Research and monitor changes to EHS laws and regulations, identify impact to the business, and in collaboration with other stakeholders, develop response strategies and/or a work plan and complete according to deadline.



Job Qualifications



Required Qualifications



Bachelor?s Degree in EHS or related field



Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience



Expertise in EHS regulations including demonstrated ability to implement practices to ensure compliance



EHS Metrics and data experience including Excel



Strong communication and collaboration skills



Demonstrated success in project management, prioritizing multiple projects at the same time and time-management



Demonstrated success in self-motivation



Preferred Qualifications



Master?s Degree



Certified Safety Professional (CSP)



Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)



Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)



Experience in health care industry



Radiation safety experience



Experience with robotics and automation safety



Experience with pesticide compliance requirements



Experience with data reporting packages such as Business Objects



Working Conditions



Physical Demands



Operating a computer or other office devices for the majority of the workday



May occasionally need to move packages up to 10 pounds such as office supplies or equipment



Must be able to communicate with others in person, over the phone, and in writing.



Must be able to understand and effectively exchange accurate information with others such as coworkers, customers and vendors



Must be able to read and interpret various electronic and written documents.



Environmental Factors



This position is in an office environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building. The building?s primary work areas consist of desks, chairs, computers and other office equipment and devices for professional services.



Travel and On-call



This position requires minimal travel (10%) throughout the US and limited international travel.



For this position, limited on-call is required for serious injury reporting to appropriate agencies as needed.



This position is a remote position. The qualified candidate must be able to work from home with regular travel to Patterson locations.
