This role has the ability to work in a hybrid environment, working form home and reporting into the New York, NY, St. Petersburg, FL, or Camp Hill, PA office a minimum of twice a week. For the right candidate located in the Eastern or Central time zone, this position could also be remote.
The Director, State and Local Tax is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of state and local tax compliance, planning and controversy, including indirect tax, as well as state and local income tax accounting (ASC 740).

Responsibilities
- Manage state and local income tax return preparation process, including separate state, combined, consolidated, consolidated nexus, and city returns in all 50 states
- Manage state and local income tax accounting including preparation and/or review of quarterly and yearly income tax provisions and SALT- related tax balance sheet accounts, and maintaining state and local FIN48 Reserves
- Provide support for annual report footnote from a state and local perspective
- Direct indirect tax function, which includes filing sales & use taxes, personal property tax, business licenses, and miscellaneous local taxes in all 50 states, hundreds of inferior political subdivisions, and Puerto Rico
- Manage unclaimed property reporting, federal wage credits, other state, and local credits
- Lead state and local income and indirect tax audits and related controversy
- With VP ? Tax, develop and implement state and local tax planning strategies
- Special projects as required include substantive tax research on US SALT issues
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, regulations, and case law and evaluate effect on Company ETR and tax balance sheet
- BA in Accounting
- CPA and/or MST or MBA preferred
- 5-8 years public accounting and/or industry experience
- Strong understanding of ASC 740
- Thorough knowledge of US Federal and state corporate income tax rules
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to meet tight deadlines
- Strong computer skills, preferably including:
- Office 365 including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI
- Alteryx (or similar)
- OneSource Tax Income Accounting (or similar)
- Corptax Income Tax Compliance (or similar)
- PeopleSoft General Ledger (or similar)
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $185000 - $200000 /year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data. Expected salary: $185000 - 200000 per year
Location: New York City, NY
