Job description: Job Summary:

The Finance Manager - UPA will have responsibility for operational finance functions, for University Physician Associates of New Jersey, Inc (UPA). UPA is the organization that bills, collects, and distributes the clinical receipts, as well as provides additional administrative support to the clinical practices of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). The Manager will assist with the financial management of UPA, analyze financial results, and provide requested reports and analysis for senior management. The Manager will serve as a resource to NJMS and UPA management teams as it relates to budgeting, resource management, and workforce planning, as well as manage staffing variances and capital needs, and annual cost projections.

Job Functions:
  • Financial Reporting - Assist with accruals, assist with variance explanation, present to region, identify opportunities for operational improvement
  • Reconcile and administer distributions of clinical revenue, including faculty compensation
  • Collaborate with NJMS Finance and NJMS Clinical Department leadership on various initiatives
  • Workforce and Salaries - Bring positions to workforce management, review reconciliations performed by central Finance team, providing feedback as needed, receive metrics and calculate quality bonus, coordinate with central budget team to maintain position control, validate accruals related to incentive and bonus, analyze impact of productivity and other factors, maintain accuracy of concurrent/allocated positions in payroll
  • Research worked departments and make accurate chargebacks
  • Expense and Accounts Payable - Provide support for capital requests, verify accuracy and completion of POs submitted by end users across the medical groups
  • Review and approve in PeopleSoft for coding and budget availability
  • Budgets - Coordinate with Central Finance and Operations on completion of budgets
  • Coordinate with accounting and revenue cycle teams
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Business Administration or 5 or more years equivalent experience in finance and medical practice operations required.
  • Must be able to work with several sites and practices and have the ability to prioritize
  • Experience in financial applications
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build internal and external relationships
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated success in working with large data sets and evaluating financial analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of total accounting and financial management both in systems theory and practice
  • Advanced excel knowledge.
