Qualifications

Education & Experience

Assistant Teacher Qualified as stated through CDHS licensing rules and regulations per the State of Colorado

Experience in a preschool classroom preferred

Ability to work under the supervision of Backpack/BELA/Family Literacy coordinators

Ability to be flexible with schedules and job assignment

Willingness to attend conferences and trainings

Must be able to lift 40 pounds or more

Excellent people skills

Work ethic that exemplifies enthusiasm, teamwork, and self-motivation

Required to meet Highly Qualified status (High School Diploma/GED and Associate degree or 48 hours of college credit or have passed the Workkeys test)

Fingerprint and background clearance

Responsibilities

Prove a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment where preschool children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills

Be accountable to daily activity, care, and instruction of students; including but not limited to: personal care routines, academic instruction, and engaging, positive interactions with all students

Interact with parents/caregivers in a positive manner, maintaining open and meaningful communication including assisting Lead Teacher with yearly Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences

Assist in organization and implementation of developmentally appropriate research-based curriculum that has been approved by the School District as directed by Lead Teacher, leading small and large group activities as directed

Adhere to licensing rules and regulations for daily activities including: hand washing, transitions, teacher/child ratios, and classroom setup

Fill in for Lead Teacher during absences, directing substitute in daily classroom routines

Arrive to work on time and be prepared for the day?s activities

Integrate daily transition activities into classroom instruction using available resources and various modalities to meet children?s individual needs including transitions to and from cafeteria and playground

Ensure cafeteria area is cleaned after use, including wiping down table, sweep floors, and mopping up messes as needed

Report daily attendance and lunch count to front office

Monitor and engage with all children on playground duty, ensure safety rules and regulations outlined in CDHS rules and regulations

Responsible for assisting in classroom cleanup and preparation for next class activities

Assist as directed in Teaching Strategies GOLD checkpoint documentation for all children in classroom, including daily observations and entering data into computer system in a timely manner

Utilize and implement Incredible Years Dinosaur School Social/ Emotional Curriculum into weekly lesson plans, facilitating appropriate action items from curriculum as needed and seeking support through available coaching resources

Assist ECE Administrative Assistant as needed to conduct surveys and Delta Family Center program evaluations through a variety of current funding requirements

Maintenance of professional portfolio through PDIS portal and accountability to licensing rules and regulations on an ongoing basis

Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for each family?s background by incorporating cultural, linguistic , and family values/beliefs into the culture of DFC, accepting all children regardless of their ethnic origin, developmental level, or family income status

Participate in and seek out professional development opportunities as required or requested by Delta Family Center Administration or mandated by licensing rules and regulations and pursue additional education as needed to maintain compliance with qualifications for current teaching role

Participate in quarterly PACT (Parent And Child Together) Events sponsored by the Delta Family Center as outlined by Director/Assistant Director

Attends weekly DFC staff meetings and age-level planning team meetings

Upholds responsibility as a mandatory reporter for Delta County School District
