Applications are now being accepted for classroom teaching aide positions at Edith Bowen Laboratory School. This position may include the following: Teaching Aide, RtI Teaching Aide, SPED Teaching Aide, SPED One on One Teaching Aide.
We prefer 6 hours a day but we are willing to work with your school schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepares lesson materials and classroom curriculum based on individual student needs.
- Assists lead teacher in developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
- Works with students in small groups helping with reading and math.
- Provides extra support to students with physical, mental or linguistic limitations.
- Maintains detailed records of student?s progress on instruction or behavioral goals.
- Supports students with assistive devices and supportive technologies.
- Performs specialized tasks to achieve instructional and behavioral objectives.
- Assists SPED teachers with behavior modification procedures.
- Assists SPED teachers in implementing programs outlined in the student's IEP, and coordinating with the classroom teacher, resource specialist, occupational therapist, speech therapist.
- Helps students with their mobility needs to ensure the provision of a safe classroom environment.
- Monitors students during activities and downtime and intervene in case of adverse activities.
- Adapts classroom activities and assignments to serve the purpose and reinforces class objectives.
- Communicates with students to determine their needs and ensures that these needs are being fulfilled properly.
- Operates equipment such as computers, printers, laminators.
- Enforces school rules and policies.
- Must be flexible and willing to learn.
- Must have a good attitude and good work ethic.
- Must be able to get along well with others.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least one year of experience working in an elementary school setting.
- At least one year of experience working with RtI or SPED students (for certain aide positions).
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate?s degree in education or related field preferred.
