National Manager of Individual Giving

The High Level



The Individual Giving Manager is part of a team of fundraisers working together to support Reading Partners? strategic growth plan through fundraising. The Individual Giving Manager?s main role is to support the achievement of organization-wide fundraising goals in close partnership with the national and regional development teams, with a focus on professionalizing our annual fund outreach efforts thereby increasing our successful engagement of this cohort of individual donors. Reporting directly to the National Director of Donor Engagement, the Individual Giving Manager will develop, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive Annual Giving Program to increase participation and long-term financial growth from individual donors. This position will successfully organize and develop the annual appeal campaign, create and manage impactful donor communications and expand our individual donor base under $5,000. The Individual Giving Manager is a highly collaborative, goal-oriented, and driven relationship builder, who is excited by both higher-level strategy and on-the-ground operational work.



What you?ll do:



Develop and lead a comprehensive annual giving program to raise $250K in the 2023 fiscal year.



Manage the annual appeal campaign process from creation through execution, including developing the strategy, content, and appeal timeline for individuals with an estimated giving capacity of $5,000 and below, while collaborating with Reading Partners? 12 regions to ensure alignment and support on strategy.



Work with Reading Partners? 12 regions to project manage and execute appeal strategy and distribution to ensure success.



Support in developing and implementing a recruitment and retention plan for individual donors to further cultivate relationships and annual financial pledges.



Develop and implement programs to attract new donors, renew lapsed donors, and identify and cultivate annual giving donors.



Track the progress of new, pending, and fulfilled pledges.



Identify and solicit prospective donors in the pipeline for planned gifts.



Collaborate with regional teams to understand current practices (including strengths and challenges) in soliciting gifts and conducting stewardship for annual donors.



Create tools, messaging, and processes to support annual fund donor communication, acquisition and cultivation, and stewardship throughout the year.



Create and standardize individual donor communications for all development staff.



Determine protocol, craft content, and recommended timeline for all acknowledgment activities.



Manage all donor distribution lists and review lists regularly with appropriate parties.



best practices to create new campaigns throughout the fiscal year to target and increase incremental donor base.



Keep abreast of the latest trends in technology with applications for fundraising; develop and enhance the latest digital tools to support individual giving at all levels, including website updates.



Prototype and test new strategies with our current constituents to develop the best cultivation strategies.



Evaluate opportunities to engage new constituent groups in supporting Reading Partners.



Manage and expand an organization-wide monthly donor program.



Manage the monthly donor program used by National and the majority of our 12 regions to solicit, steward, and upgrade monthly donors.



Keep apprised of best practices to attract new recurring donors



Work with Marketing and Development Operations to provide ongoing revisions to automated email stewardship to ensure up-to-date communications



Coordinate with the National Development team and regions to update stewardship opportunities for monthly donors throughout the year



Communicate updates and promote the use of the monthly donor program to regions



Support the external fundraising leaders in developing proposals and supporting materials for major gift prospects.



Partner with Marketing and Communications and create compelling pitches and materials to be used in soliciting major individual donor prospects.



Assist in creating top-notch major-donor programming and collateral for Regional development staff



Coordinate with the Marketing team on newsletters to ensure communication materials are specific and targeted.

Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with National Development leadership to develop strategic fundraising plans, create action steps, and mobilize many stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals. In close collaboration, support the national development team to build sustainable plans to maximize opportunities, meet goals, and significantly grow funding. Execute work in a highly organized, analytical, and data-informed manner.



Think creatively to strategize, develop, and launch a comprehensive new annual giving program.



Communication:



Effectively write high-quality donor communications that demonstrate deep knowledge of our program and promote our mission. Demonstrate the ability to write customized and compelling messages. Through exceptional writing, serve as an ambassador of Reading Partners.



Communicate effectively with all internal stakeholders at the national office and with regional teams.



Relationship Development:



Internally, establish highly collaborative relationships with all team members in national departments and in regions. Demonstrate a hunger to learn, grow, support, and add great value. Regularly seek to understand all aspects of our model to convey externally.



Development Operations Management:



Demonstrate a high level of process and detail orientation in all aspects of this work.



Manage logistics for events related to individual giving initiatives, ensuring smooth execution and successful outcomes.



Project manage individual giving projects, coordinating tasks and timelines to achieve objectives efficiently and effectively.



Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of individual giving activities with broader organizational initiatives.



About you



You?ll be successful in this role if you:



Show 2+ years of increasing responsibility in a development or related role.



Demonstrate strong knowledge base of individual giving programs.



Are an exceptional and persuasive communicator in writing and verbally.



Are a self-starter, with a proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.



Possess the ability to work well in an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment.



Have a high degree of comfort with Salesforce or other fundraising databases.



Are well-organized, detail-oriented, and have strong critical thinking skills.



Have project management expertise with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands while maintaining a commitment to excellence.



Are achievement-oriented and have a demonstrated track record of achieving aggressive fundraising goals.

We aim to set salaries based on objective, external, high-quality market data. Our salaries are adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions. We do our very best to ensure that we?re bringing our best offer - therefore, we do not engage in salary negotiations.



This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The pay range for this position is $69,275 to $81,500 and is contingent on geographic location. After submitting an application, candidates who move forward in the hiring process are provided with the salary for their geographical location.



We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flex spending accounts, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and currently a 403(b) match option.



Ten(10) vacation days with twelve (12) sick days.

Travel: This position requires occasional travel to other Reading Partners? markets, i.e., New York, Washington DC, Dallas/Fort Worth.



This position is remote but requires candidates to reside within one of Reading Partners? regions. Reading Partners markets include: Baltimore, MD, Denver, CO, Charleston, SC, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, North Texas (Dallas and Fort Worth), San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Seattle, WA, Silicon Valley, CA, Twin Cities, MN, Tulsa, OK, and Washington, D.C.
