rnrnThe centerpiece of Killens Pond State Park, conveniently located in central Delaware, is the 66-acre millpond, which was established in the late 1700s. Before the pond was created, the Murderkill River and surrounding hardwood forest were sites of several Native American homes and hunting camps. rn??? Summary Statement



This year- round position for Killens Pond is responsible for developing and conducting environmental interpretive programs that will increase the public's awareness of their surrounding environment.? Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. Also responsible for daily delivery of programming and leading tours of the Nature Center which include a collection of native reptiles and amphibians.rn

Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.rnrnrn Lead school and public environmental programs tied to State standards to increase awareness and understanding of Delaware's natural resources.rn Help coordinate and implement spring and summer day camps at Killens Pond State Park.rn Develop and maintain exhibits, park bulletin boards and educational material.rn Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.rn Plan, organize and conduct interpretive walks and tours.rn Provide live animal care and handling.rn Perform custodial services in restrooms, offices and other rooms in the Nature Center.rn Set-up, monitor and provide clean-up support for park programs and special events.rn Must demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.rn Maintain a positive attitude.rn Other duties as assigned.rnrnrn
