Job title: Virtual Tutor (English/Reading, Middle School or High School)
Company: Littera Education
Job description: Virtual Reading/ELA Tutor (Grades 5-12)

Every student deserves a great tutor like you.

Littera Education is looking for virtual English/Reading (MS or HS) tutors to join our Fall 2023 tutor pool for the upcoming school year.

Our tutors meet with the same student a few times a week, at the same time, for a series of weeks. As a tutor, you will be responsible for providing tutoring to students who need additional ELA/Reading support. You can choose the grades to work with among students in grades 5 to 12.

We are seeking dedicated virtual tutors who can commit to adding consistent daily availability to their calendars, five days a week from Monday to Friday. However, We offer flexible scheduling, so you can choose your own availability. Sessions, when scheduled, will most often have the same hours and be on the same days from week to week.

Please note, this is a remote contract position and is not full-time. This role is perfect for you if you are interested in earning supplemental income with a flexible schedule that you choose. Scheduling is based on a number of different factors such as the students calendar and the tutors availability, so we do not guarantee a set number of hours per week. At Littera Education, our mission supports equitable, high-quality tutoring reaching students in school districts across the United States. Our high-dosage tutoring model pairs students with the same tutor for 2-3 sessions a week.

Why Be A Littera Tutor?
  • Indicate the days/times you are availability to to tutor - without minimum or maximum requirements
  • Complete a self-paced English/Reading curriculum orientation to ensure you can successfully sign into the platform and access the lesson content.
  • Engage with the same student(s) on a regular schedule. Students love working with the same tutor each week - and tutors love the opportunity to get to know their student and make an impact on their learning
  • Be supported by a USA based team available to assist you.
  • A flexible supplemental income opportunity assisting students across the country
Application Process: * Selected applicants will be asked to record and submit a one question, two minute response, sharing their experience working with students.
  • Participate in a brief virtual mock tutoring appointment to demonstrate your tutor skills - with content we will provide. Say hello to a mentor tutor and learn more about the role
  • Tutors that receive an offer will be asked to consent to a background check and review how to sign into the platform to access the provided lesson content.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with school-age learners in some capacity
  • Ability to instruct and engage students with clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A bachelor's degree or some college coursework completed
  • A high comfort level with online virtual tools and technology.
  • A computer with the Chrome browser, a camera, and a quality internet connection.
  • Tutors must reside in the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii and have a USA based bank account to receive payments.
How are tutors scheduled?

Littera tutors set their availability in their tutor dashboard. Sessions are offered at Littera Monday to Friday, with session times generally between 8am ET to 9pm ET. Tutors share the subjects and levels of interest to tutor and open calendar availability. Curriculum is provided for all sessions. Following a complete tutor profile, and a review of the curriculum platform(s), the platform begins to seek to match a tutor with an ongoing program series.

The platform may match a tutor with a tutoring series quickly, or the platform may continue to search for a match for the tutor over a number of weeks, based on the incoming student subjects/levels/schedule, and the tutor profile.

Littera prioritizes a consistent student:tutor relationship. Tutors are matched with the same student(s) a few times each week, for a series of weeks, as part of the tutoring program. Opening consistent calendar availability, week to week, is requested.

Benefits:
  • Receive ongoing support from Littera's Tutor Operations team
  • Invited to become part of the Littera Tutor virtual community
  • Pay rate is $18 per hour pending completion of a Curriculum Orientation.
  • Optional: Tutors may also choose to complete an algebra assessment to add the Algebra subject to their tutor profile. The pay rate for high school Algebra I sessions is $22 per hour.
Not able to apply at this time, but interested in tutoring other subjects? Join our Future Tutor Talent Community and we can reach out when other subjects become available.
