Position Title: Math and Science Tutor - Educational Support Personnel Level III (10- Month Position)

Reports To: Assistant Principal
Schedule (Tentative): 1:55pm-4:15pm on Mondays, 3:10pm-4:15pm on Tuesdays, 1:10pm-4:15pm on Wednesdays, 1:10pm-4:15pm on Thursdays and 1:10pm-3:15pm on Fridays
Starting Pay: $18.50/Hr

SUMMARY:

Deerfield High School has a job opening for a Math and Science Tutor (Educational Support Personnel Level III) in the Academic Resource Center (ARC). The Academic Resource Center is a walk-in tutoring center available to all DHS students. The ARC offers one-to-one help with Math, Science, World Language, Reading, and Writing. It is a part-time, hourly position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of the Math and Science Tutor (Educational Support Personnel Level III) include (but is not limited to) the following:
  • Provide tutoring in math and science reasoning in all curricular areas;
  • Participate in recruitment and training of student tutors;
  • Participate in Institute Days, workshops, and continuing education in subject areas;
  • Assist in administrative tasks.
  • Excellent communication, technological, and organizational skills and a genuine desire to work with students are required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • 60 hours of college credit or a BA degree.
  • ISBE licensure required - Para Professional License (PARA), Substitute License (SUB) or a Professional Educator License (PEL). Professional Educator License with mathematics and/or science endorsement is preferred.
  • Experience in a school setting is preferred.
