Position Overview Impact Manager (IM) leads and develops a team of AmeriCorps members (ACMs) as idealistic, emerging leaders and practitioners focused on strengthening schools and supporting students to improve performance. Reporting to an Impact Director and working from a partner school(s), the IM plays a critical role in implementing City Year?s school-based Whole School Whole Child (WSWC) service model, mission, and practices. The IM is also an effective talent developer who will support AmeriCorps members through a challenging and rewarding year of service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

AmeriCorps Member Experience

Manage, coach, and develop up to 8 AmeriCorps members though a personally rewarding year of service in Columbus City Schools, where they achieve service performance and standards requirements while reaching their leadership development potential. Model leadership that is fueled by City Year's culture and values.

Build Conditions for Success in our Schools

Build and cultivate strong partnerships with teachers, principals, school officials, and other key decision makers and stakeholders. Manage implementation of partnership agreement between the school and City Year Columbus. Ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for their team of AmeriCorps members to deliver attendance, behavior, and course performance interventions for students.

Service Delivery & Impact

Lead AmeriCorps Members to implement City Year?s WSWC model with a high degree of quality to a targeted group of students at the right time, at assigned schoolhouse(s). Make data-informed decisions to ensure tutoring, classroom support, afterschool programs, and school-wide initiatives align with the shared goals of the school/City Year partnership.

Additional duties to include (but not limited to):

Participate in AmeriCorps member recruitment interviews.

Attend and help mobilize team for whole site events (i.e. Opening Day, MLK Day, Annual Fundraiser Gala, Graduation, etc.)

Participate in relevant network-wide meetings and calls providing insight, feedback, and collective problem-solving.

What does a typical day look like?

City Year teams work in conjunction with Columbus City School schedules. Below is an example what a typical day could look like for an IM.

Start of day centering meeting with team around 6:45 AM or 7:45AM (start of day depends on school placement)

Support student arrival

Observe and share feedback with AmeriCorps members providing interventions for students

Review AmeriCorps Member intervention plans, student engagement or achievement data and offer feedback

Individual check-in meetings with AmeriCorps Members

Attend partnership meetings or school initiative, committee or building leadership meetings

Coach AmeriCorps Members through communication challenges and conflict resolution

Connect with school administration to review upcoming initiatives and mutual expectations

Meet with Impact Director for your own support and professional development

Host City Year's potential and current funding partners on a school tour and roundtable

Attend and support After School Programs (where applicable) or lead a team meeting

End of day centering meeting with team around 4:15 PM or 5:15 PM (end of the day depends on the school placement)

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor?s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience managing and developing diverse teams, particularly managing teams of early-workforce members, through performance plans, reviews, and leadership opportunities.

2-3 years of relevant experience, work in the education sector preferred, but not required.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytic, and problem-solving skills.

Experience building and growing complex professional relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.

Experience holding people accountable to performance goals and navigating difficult conversations.

Ability to translate mission and vision from organization level to individual and team levels and draw connections between mission and daily work.

Ability to navigate complex topics and parse them for specific audiences.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and diverse environment.

Experience or familiarity with AmeriCorps/National Service preferred, but not required.

Familiarity with Columbus City Schools system preferred, but not required.
