Reports to: General supervision is received from the Dean of Adult and Developmental Education

Supervision Exercised: None



Job Summary

Under the direction of the Dean of Adult & Developmental Education, the Developmental Education Outreach Assistant will be responsible for the planning, development, and oversight of activities that enhance community and outreach; work with faculty, staff, and students to promote a sense of belonging to the mathematics and INRW community and increase the diversity of participants/students in the department?s programs; help mentor and advocate for students from under-represented and socially or economically disadvantaged groups; and play a leadership role in community activities. They are expected to be flexible and willing to have their work assignments adjusted in order to support the College's program efforts. All of these activities are designed to improve student academic success and retention and increase students' participation rate in developmental and corequisite courses.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.


  • Monitor and manage a caseload of students with high-level support needs in dev math, INRW, and corequisites courses.

  • Develop individual learning plans for dev math, INRW, and corequisites students in danger of not meeting minimal academic success requirements.

  • Present learning strategy workshops for successful completion of initial-level, math and English courses.

  • Plan and participate in outreach initiatives for traditional and non-traditional

  • Plan and participate in creating awareness and benefits of ALEKS, EdReady, and other multiple measures for placement at RVC.

  • Work in collaboration with the Testing Center, Communications department, and department chairs to maximize multiple measures for placement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

Associate?s Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.



Experience:

One year of academic advising, tutoring, and/or academic support experience (part-or full-time) is required. Two years preferred.



Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to travel to community events and partner locations and work in an office setting.
