Assistant Professor of Statistics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department is seeking applications from qualified individuals in all areas of statistics, data science, and biostatistics. In addition to methodological research, this position provides outstanding opportunities for collaborative/interdisciplinary research with the Vermont Complex Systems and Data Science Center, the Larner College of Medicine, the UVM Cancer Center, the UVM Transportation Research Center, the Justice Research Initiative and National Center on Restorative Justice, the Center on Disability and Community Inclusion, the Vermont Advanced Computing Core, and the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.
Candidates are required to have a doctorate in statistics, biostatistics, data science, or a related field prior to the start date. The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain an excellent research program that leads to publication and presentation in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets and the potential to secure extramural funding. The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, and the potential to supervise graduate students, is required. This requirement should be addressed in the candidate's teaching statement. A competitive startup package is available.
