Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Life, the Leadership and Service Coordinator is responsible for supporting and developing programs that contribute to vibrant campus life. This position will specifically oversee leadership and service initiatives and programs for the Office of Undergraduate Student Life.



Responsibilities include overseeing the operations of the Leadership Paths student organization workshop program and the Leaders Impacting Technology (L.I.T) leadership program for the Emerging and Advancing Leaders cohorts developing training for student organization leaders and providing support and trainings for the Peer Leader Program. Specifically, the Coordinator would be responsible for the areas below:



Leadership and Service Development Programs


  • Oversee the Office of Undergraduate Student Life?s student organization leadership program, Leadership Paths, which are workshops that are customized with core and elective content in four development areas for student success

  • Oversee the Leaders Impacting Technology (L.I.T) Leadership Program, a two cohort-model program designed for students to develop interpersonal skills that relate to personality, professional and organizational success

  • Coordinate and support campus service/civic-engagement opportunities such as MLK Day of Service, Ducks4Democracy, Constitution Day, and Alternative Spring Break

Student Organization Advisement & Support

  • Advise the Vice-President of Student Interests to oversee selection during the New Student Organization Process, in addition to planning and executing Flock Party and Admitted Students Day Weekend

  • Serve as a liaison to 30+ recognized student organizations in the areas of media, non-registered, and special interests

  • Provide secondary support to the management and advancement of our student engagement platform, DuckLink

New Student Programs

  • Manage and oversee the recruitment, selection, and training of 60 peer leaders annually in preparation for First-Year, International, and Transfer Student Orientations in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Academics

  • Assist with the program development for New Student Programs including providing input on the topics covered, the external and internal facilitators selected, as well as the outcomes expected for new students through this program

Collaboration and Communication



  • Represent the Office of Undergraduate Student Life on University-wide events such as Family Day, Commencement and Admissions Open Houses, and other outreach programs

  • Collaborate with other campus departments by serving on divisional committees and/or by partnering on co-curricular programs that support student engagement, first-year student success, and leadership education

Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s degree required; a Master?s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, or Counseling preferred

  • A minimum of one to two years of experience advising student organizations preferred

  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and develop rapport with students

  • Knowledge of relevant research literature on the development of college students, leadership, risk management, organizational development, and ability to implement research and develop new programs

  • Demonstrates clear organization skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and leadership capabilities

  • Ability to adapt a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends
