Position Summary



The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Health & Human Sciences, Indiana University Indianapolis invites applications for a 10-month faculty position beginning August 1, 2024.



This is a one-year, annually renewable appointment.



The successful applicant will have the ability to teach and mentor undergraduate (BS) students in both face-to-face and online courses within the health sciences curriculum and will be responsible for participating in and assisting with the IU Indianapolis BRIDGE week and First Year Experience. The Health Sciences department offers a BS in Health Sciences (BSHS). Additionally, the department offers three undergraduate certificates: Gerontology, Global Health and Rehabilitation Services, and Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. Students may earn undergraduate certificates in conjunction with the BSHS or other undergraduate degrees.



Job Duties:

80% Teaching and Scholarship (SoTL)

20% Service



Teach undergraduate health sciences courses and serve the department, school, and campus.



The person selected will: * Teach 4 courses per semester (fall/spring)


  • Contribute to student success through BRIDGE, first-year seminars, and introductory health sciences courses.

  • Cultivate best teaching practices through engagement and discussion with the scholarship of teaching and learning.

  • Mentor students and provide professional, university, and community service.

Review of applications will begin November 13, 2023, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The starting date for the position is Fall 2024.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's Degree and expertise in Health or Rehabilitation Sciences or complementary disciplines including but not limited to wellness, gerontology, sociology, behavioral medicine, health education, or nursing.

  • Demonstrated potential for success in teaching.

  • Experience in college classroom teaching.
