The Robinson Center for Young Scholars is currently seeking temporary, hourly teaching aides to support our Saturday programming during the 2023-24 academic year.
Each quarter runs for 8 weeks, and TAs will assist up to 3 hour-long courses a day (9am-12pm). TAs are expected to arrive 30 minutes before their first scheduled course and be prepared to stay 30 minutes after the final course, each day.
2023-24 Saturday Dates:
Fall Quarter: Sept. 30 - Nov. 18
Winter Quarter: Jan. 20 - Mar. 16 (no class 2/17)
Spring Quarter: Mar. 30 - May 18
Saturday courses serve students in grades K-8, and are intended to provide intellectually ambitious students with challenge, inspiration, and fun, in a collaborative, supportive learning environment. Our classes are not intended to move students ahead in the standard curriculum but rather to explore topics not usually covered in the K-8 classroom. There is no homework, although optional activities may be suggested for outside of class.
The Saturday Program Teaching Aide is required to attend an orientation before classes start and will assist the classroom teachers with all aspects of instruction and supervision. The teaching aide will report to the Program Manager each session and work directly with instructors during class time. They will be responsible for recording hours bi-monthly in Workday.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Support 100%:
- Facilitating small group conversations with students;
- Participating in classroom activities, evaluations and attendance taking;
- Documenting student work;
- Performing experiments or classroom demonstrations;
- Escorting students between campus locations during class change and generally monitoring student safety;
- Assisting course instructors with daily set up and break down of classrooms and supplies;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to attend all class sessions and trainings/orientations;
- Applicants must be at least 15 years of age at start of the program;

- Experience working with youth in an educational setting.
