Responsibilities
In this role you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. 4 South is one of the largest medical/surgical units in Butterworth. 4 South nurses are highly regarded for their team orientation, advanced technical skills, strong perception and compassionate care.
Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex. We care for spine surgery patients, patients who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal or debulking and elective aneurysm interventions. Our general neurology patients include those who have experienced acute, stroke, seizure, chronic headaches and general neurological disorders including Guillen-Barre Syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis exacerbations. Being a med/surg unit, we provide quality care for many general medicine patients: pneumonia, cellulitis, GI bleeds, alcohol withdrawal and patients who have experience drug overdose are just a few examples.
The professional growth and development opportunities truly prepare a nurse for the next steps in their career. We provide neuro-specific training through classes, online learning modules, and 1-1 instruction on the unit with your preceptor. First year RNs can participate in our new grad float pool program. This is specifically designed to support new graduates during their first year on the job as they transition to professional practice.
