Job description: Summary: Performs any combination of the following instructional responsibilities in classrooms to assist students of Godwin Heights Public Schools by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other allowable duties may be assigned.
Either is a certified teacher or works under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
Provide academic support in core instruction for targeted/qualifying students.
Communication with regular teaching staff to support core instruction
Instructional support of intervention in core instructional areas
Periodic progress monitoring
Appropriate use of materials and resources for instruction
Participates in after school tutoring when applicable
Assist classroom teacher in providing communication to families of qualifying students.
Responsible for own record keeping.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to communicate with students, parents, and school personnel - written and orally.
Ability to work collaboratively in both large and small group instruction.
Ability to take direction and show initiative.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to use technology in an educational setting.
Education and/or Experience:
Associates Degree in Education or Parapro Praxis Certificate
and High School Diploma, and or G.E.D
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (desired)
Bilingual (desired)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile and negotiate.
