Job title: Before and After School Tutoring Teachers

Job description: One to two teachers are needed per grade levels K through 5. Teachers may choose to teach at any location that does not interfere with their building work hours. Teachers have the option of teaching in the morning, afternoon or both. All staff, no matter what session they choose (morning/afternoon) are required to attend mandatory training. If the training must be held during school hours, a sub will be provided, if it can be held after hours, teachers will be compensated at the salary rate listed above.

GOAL:
The goal of the Before and After School Tutoring Program is to maximize academic potential, strengthen literacy and math achievement, build self-esteem/motivation, and ensure academic success.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Highly Qualified Required
  • Exemplary experience in teaching elementary literacy and mathematics
  • Enthusiastic, Energetic, Positive, Professional
  • Experience with English Language Learner students
  • Must attend training in Literacy and/or Math Program that Teacher will be using
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teachers will be responsible for facilitating the Before and After School Tutoring Program as designed.
  • Staff will participate in the professional learning for the math and/or literacy program they will be using to teach during their session. If teachers will be utilizing both ELA and math, both training will be required.
  • Teachers will administer a pre-assessment, analyze results, begin instruction and modify as necessary.
  • Teachers will communicate with parents as well as building administrators.
  • Teachers will take attendance, administer a post-assessment and have parents and students complete a programming survey.
  • Teachers will also complete a program survey. All materials will be turned in at the end of the program.
Position will be filled based upon student enrollment, teacher certification and program leadership experience.

TUTORING SCHEDULE:

Schofield Schedule:
(Mornings)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 45 minutes per session, all before school.
  • 12.75 total hours of instruction + 4.25 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 8:05 a.m.? 8:50 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
(Afternoons)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 45 minutes per session, all after school
  • 12.75 total hours of instruction + 4.25 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 4:05 p.m.? 4:50 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
Westview Schedule:
(Mornings)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 45 minutes per session, all before school.
  • 12.75 total hours of instruction + 4.25 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 7:30am - 8:15am, Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
(Afternoons)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 1 hour per session, all after school.
  • 17 total hours of instruction + 6 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 3:30pm - 4:30pm., Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
Mound Park Schedule:
(Mornings)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 45 minutes per session, all before school.
  • 12.75 total hours of instruction + 4.25 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 7:20 a.m.?8:05 a.m, Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
(Afternoons)
  • 17 sessions within 11 weeks: Tuesdays and Thursdays only. (No sessions on October 19, October 31, November 22 or November 24).
  • 1 hour per session, all after school.
  • 17 total hours of instruction + 6 hours for planning during the program. Teachers will also be required to attend training, based on the program taught. (To be determined)
  • Student Hours: 3:15 p.m.- 4:15 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, October 10-December 19
