Job description: The systems and network support specialist role is responsible for focusing on escalated technology requests and project related issues as well as implementing new technologies and solving problems in innovative ways as the technology landscape changes. This work involves a strong understanding of the following: Virtual and physical servers, security appliances, networking devices, wireless technology, cloud-based email platforms, and IaaS services plus a variety of 3rd party line-of-business applications.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum level of training is a Bachelor?s degree or equivalent in information technology with recent relevant experience.
2. 3-5 years of similarly high-level IT experience.
3. Experience with Google Workspace and/or Office 365 platforms.
4. Possess recent experience in troubleshooting computer wiring configurations and working knowledge of all current operating systems including Windows, Linux, MacOS, ChromeOS , and iOS
5. Possess knowledge of and experience working in Microsoft Active Directory domains, Azure, Group Policy, and MDM solutions.
6. Possess knowledge of and experience working in networking and wireless design and implementation fundamentals for Cisco, Juniper, or HPE/Aruba environments.
7. Possess knowledge of systems backup procedures and policies; experience with Veeam preferred.
8. Advanced knowledge of Powershell and/or other scripting platforms. SQL experience strongly preferred.
9. Requires the ability to work cooperatively with others and be part of a team. This includes fully documenting all projects and trouble tickets so others can follow behind and support those projects.
Additionally, effectively communicating with teammates around issues, ideas and differences.
10. Demonstrates good personal habits such as mature and responsible judgment, honesty, patience, discretion, friendliness, and self-initiative.
11. Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple concurrent priorities and tasks.
12. Willingness to continue to grow professionally and improve one?s skill set by investing time in self-paced online courses, vendor competencies/certifications, and formal online/classroom instructor-
led training. You will be expected to keep up-to-date with the changing technological landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform first and second level technology hardware/software maintenance and troubleshooting for staff and students as needed.
  • Planning, installation, and management of Windows and Linux servers and services, such as Hyper-v, Active Directory Services, DNS and DHCP, LDAPS, NTFS permissions, File Shares, RDS, log management, SAN technology, EDR solutions, etc.
  • Planning, rollout, and management of district-wide cloud based systems such as AzureAD/Entra, Google Workspace, AWS, etc.
  • Planning, installation, and management of district-wide network equipment upgrades and topology modifications. Supports and maintains all components of the district wide area network and building local area networks, including switches, firewalls, routers and other devices connected to the network.
  • Ensures that servers, network equipment, and services are regularly updated to the latest security patches.
  • Assists in planning and implementation of cyber security initiatives with regard to servers, network, desktops, and backup systems.
  • Maintains integrity of data and applications; provides protection against viruses and malicious software; provides protection against unauthorized network use.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining an up-to-date disaster recovery plan.
  • Manages the district-wide data backup system to ensure reliable server and information backups in accordance with industry standards.
  • Maintains and improves the District's server and network monitoring systems.
  • Maintains and regularly updates documentation for servers, network, services, and other platforms.
  • Provides support for database applications as needed (SQL support for SIS, Identity and Access Management systems, etc.)
  • Responsible for user account management and automation for both staff and students systems.
  • Assist with supporting Microsoft Windows desktops, iPadOS support, and automated operating system and application deployment (e.g. SCCM, InTune, Apple MDM).
  • Assists with establishing criteria for technology equipment and resource selection for recommended purchase.
  • Find creative ways to leverage technology to support teachers.
  • Continually evaluates the technologies currently implemented and makes recommendations for improvement and future integrations.
  • Conducts staff training on technology hardware and software as required.
  • Will occasionally be required to work nights and weekends due to mission critical system outages, new installations, or scheduled maintenance.
