Job Description



100% - Assist SELF Fellows in an ongoing basis for courses in which they seek tutoring. Tutors will be selected based on the needs of the students. Courses for which students may tutor include (but are not limited to) Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, advanced programming courses, and others. Tutors will work on consistent weekly schedule of less than 20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications



  • Must have taken the classes in which you are tutoring (or their equivalents) and have passed with a grade of B or better

  • Ability to work a consistent weekly schedule

  • Minimum cumulative KU GPA of 3.0

  • Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, patience, and fluency in the English language

**During the semester term of the appointment, the student must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

  • Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or coaching
