Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for an Associate Athletics Director.



The Associate Athletics Director is primarily responsible for leading programs and coordinating services for student-athletes that lead to retention, graduation, and transfer. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.



Core Competencies and Qualifications



Education- Master's degree in education, business, sports management, or other related field from a regionally accredited institution, or a comparable combination of a bachelor's degree in related field and relevant experience.



Experience- Four (4) years of experience working with secondary or post-secondary students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Lead the Challenging Athletes' Mindset for Personal Success (CHAMPS) Program to include coordinating speakers, topics, and resources as a tool to empower student-athletes towards academic success.

  • Lead implementation of the bi-weekly Student-Athlete Progress Report program in coordination with head coaches

  • Coordinate effective working relationships with college administrators in offices that include Academic Advising, Counseling, Learning Lab, Orientation and Registrar

  • Lead implementation of programs for student-athletes identified as ?high-risk? academically, especially with online classes, coordinate tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other support services.

  • Direct Study Table programs as necessary in coordination with head coaches

  • Coordinate services, programs and workshops that assist student-athletes with academic success, in both in-person and online environments.

  • Lead campus, conference and national academic award presentations and reports in coordination with compliance guidelines.

  • Lead efforts to track student-athletes who transfer to increase the college's graduation rate.

  • Lead the Student-Athlete Orientation program for new and returning student-athletes.

  • Lead the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

  • Coordinate and lead the efforts to ensure that the Athletic department is in full compliance with NJCAA and MCCAA rules and regulations.

  • Lead the efforts for adherence to strict compliance with College policies and procedures.

  • Provide a timely and accurate system of completing mandated forms, reports, assessments, and audits as required by various reporting and oversight agencies.

  • Together with the Registrar, responsible for certifying eligibility of all student-athletes.

  • In collaboration with the Athletics Director, responsible for monitoring Coaches' activities relative to rules compliance and interacting with College faculty and staff members.

  • Collaborating with the Financial Aid department and the Athletics Director, responsible for the evaluation and awarding of student-athlete scholarships.

  • Communicate eligibility and compliance/certification guidelines to current and prospective student-athletes and their families and high school coaches.

Secondary Duties



  • Assist with departmental special events as assigned.

  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications and other departments to promote athletic events and achievements.

  • Assist with oversight of home athletic events as assigned.

  • Oversee sport team(s) as assigned.

  • Assist with the revision of the Student Handbook and Year-In-Review.

  • Perform other professional duties as assigned.
