Job description: Come join the diverse Department of Counseling in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Mercy College, which offers master's degrees in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. We are seeking a candidate for a full-time Multi-year Associate Professor position in School Counseling starting in the Fall of 2023, who is committed to equity, diversity, and high-impact teaching practices to train school counseling graduate students to meet the ever-changing needs of K-12 students. Specifically, the ideal candidate will teach courses such as School Counseling Program Development and Evaluation and Field Experience courses (e.g., practicum and internship), in addition to counseling skills and research. Additional responsibilities, besides teaching, will include academic advising and serving on academic program committees.

Hold a PhD in Counseling or closely related field, preferable from a CACREP accredited program



Experience teaching in higher education, preferable in counseling



Applicants must be permanently certified as a school counselor with at least three years of experience, and preference will be given to those who are also licensed or license eligible as a mental health counselor.



The candidate should also have teaching experience using a learning management system such as Blackboard in various modalities (online, in person, hybrid).



The individual should have scholarly activity, as defined by Boyer's Model of Scholarship, in school counseling and be engaged in school counseling professional service at the national, state, and/or local level. Knowledge and experience implementing the ASCA National Model, CACREP standards, and New York State School Counselor Regulations are required.



Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.
