The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching (clinical, didactic and laboratory), clinical service, and research activity in beef cattle production medicine. The candidate will join a team of 4 clinicians within the Food Animal Reproduction and Medicine Service (FARMS: ), as well as a wider team of extension and research faculty serving food animal teaching and research needs. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for training veterinary students, residents and interns in beef cattle production medicine, while providing reproductive, medical and surgical services to private clients and the UF beef cattle units. To cover service responsibilities, occasional clinical work with species other than beef cattle will be required; this will include reproductive management, production medicine and emergency services for dairy cattle, swine, and small ruminant herds. There will be participation in shared on-call duty with the other FARMS faculty. The primary clinical teaching effort will be directed towards DVM students during their 2-week FARMS rotations throughout the year, where students receive on-farm and classroom instruction in basic clinical skills; elective rotations provide opportunity for more specialized training, with the goal of producing new graduates that are ready to practice in their chosen area of food animal production medicine. Didactic teaching responsibilities will include coordination of the 1-credit beef cattle production medicine elective course, as well as assisting with didactic lectures in relevant areas across the veterinary curriculum, such as production and preventive medicine, nutrition, theriogenology, and ruminant medicine courses.

A successful Tenure Track candidate will be expected to initiate and maintain research through extramural funding directed towards beef cattle health and population medicine. Opportunities exist for participation in graduate programs and for collaboration within established research programs in other departments and colleges of the University of Florida. Clinical Track faculty are expected to be involved in scholarly activities and participate in collaborative research.
