Primary purpose:
To provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences, fulfilling their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. To enable students to develop competencies and skills needed to seamlessly enter a career in the Audio/Video & Communication Industry.
Education/certification:
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements/ trainings for assigned area
The following certifications satisfy TEA teacher requirements for this position:
Any business or office education certificate.
Business and Finance: Grades 6-12.
Business Education: Grades 6-12.
Secondary Industrial Arts (Grades 6-12).
Secondary Industrial Technology (Grades 6-12).
Technology Applications: Early Childhood-Grade 12.
Technology Applications: Grades 8-12.
Technology Education: Grades 6-12.
Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 6-12. This assignment requires appropriate work approval.
Trade and Industrial Education: Grades 8-12. This assignment requires appropriate work approval.
Vocational Trades and Industry. This assignment requires appropriate work approval.

Qualify as an ?industry expert? under CISD?s District of Innovation (DOI) plan:
Applicants in CTE can be considered for employment without holding a degree or teacher certification as written in CISD?s DOI plan if they have at least two years of wage earning experience in the Audio/ Video Industry. ?Industry experts? hired under the DOI provision will be provided 20 hours of professional development in general pedagogy and classroom management prior to instructing students.
Special knowledge/ skills for certified teacher or DOI hire:
Proficiency in Adobe software including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Animate
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to build relationships with students, instruct them, and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one-year student teaching or completion of approved internship to qualify with a teacher certification. Two years of wage earning experience in the A/V industry to qualify under DOI.
Major responsibilities and duties: * Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district?s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policy, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established by individualized education plans (IEP?s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/ learning process.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
- Willingness to sponsor or co-sponsor the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) related to the Audio/ Video Technology and Communications Career Cluster.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the student code of conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Mental demands/ physical demands/ environmental factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
