The Doctor of Education (EdD) program in the Graduate Department of Education (GDE) is seeking qualified candidates who are enthusiastic about educational research and teaching for ongoing part-time online adjunct instructor positions. Teaching assignments will vary based on departmental needs.



Candidates are expected to perform the following essential duties:


  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline.

  • Present course material in a clear, organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline and online environment.

  • Explain course expectations clearly to students.

  • Adhere to the GDE bylaws/handbook, as well as the University?s Institutional Review Board?s professional guidelines about conducting research.

  • Adhere to all university safety policies regarding classroom equipment and materials.

  • Grade assigned papers, quizzes, examinations, or projects with rubrics in a timely manner so that students may benefit from the feedback.

  • Provide students with individualized help and consultation to meet students? learning needs.

  • Meet administrative requirements and deadlines such as those for submitting course syllabi, conducting student course evaluations, and submitting final grades.

  • Use technology as established and communicated by the University to carry out the administrative duties associated with teaching.

  • Work with the EdD Director on course curriculum revisions and finding academic references and resources for developing and updating the assigned course.

  • Meet with students via zoom or other video conferencing apps in groups or one-on-one for student advising and mentorship.

  • Regular small group zoom meetings with students are required for the assigned courses. No extra payment is associated with the zoom meetings.

  • Willingness to collaborate with faculty in the GDE, EdD Director, and doctoral students for educational research projects.

Minimum Qualifications



  • EdD. or Ph.D. in Education or a related field, with several years' professional experience in a relevant field.

  • The applicant should have experience and/or training relevant to the content area being taught.

  • Publications and presentations at professional venues are expected.

  • A willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, as well as teach and mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds is essential.

  • Doctoral students have full-time professional jobs, and thus willingness to work with students in the evenings and weekends is required.

  • Knowledge about educational research, CITI training, IRB process, and publication venues is expected.

  • Knowledge of and capacity to teach online asynchronously and via zoom is expected.

  • Willingness to work with multimodal systems for research/teaching is a must.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Hands-on knowledge of using SPSS, R, NVivo, MAXQDA, Dedoose, and other quantitative and qualitative data analysis software, as well as research experience in quantitative methods and educational leadership.

  • Professional membership in professional organizations such as AERA and CPED is preferred.

  • Candidates who can travel to our St Louis home campus are preferred but out-of-state candidates will be considered as well.
