Job Description:

The College of Education at the University of Florida seeks two scholars in advanced and emerging learning technologies, artificial intelligence in education, XR/VR, and/or technology-enhanced learning accessibility.. These positions will be part of the recently formed Institute for Advanced Learning Technologies (IALT; ). Specifically, we are searching for one open rank tenure-track faculty and one assistant-associate tenure-track faculty. Both positions are 9-month appointments. Anticipated start date is August, 2024 but could be negotiable.

IALT faculty develop, assess, and disseminate innovative advanced learning technologies for deployment in educational, workforce/professional development, and/or other formal and informal learning settings. IALT faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues across UF and beyond, including but not limited to: and .

Aligned with our commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, IALT faculty members may be housed in any one of the three schools in our College: (1) School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education, (2) School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies or (3) School of Teaching and Learning.

Potential areas of expertise and scholarship include:
  • Artificial intelligence in education research and development for learning in a variety of settings
  • Research and development of innovative/emerging/advanced learning technologies and systems
  • Learning/cognitive sciences associated with technologies
  • XR/VR research and development for learning in a variety of settings
  • Assistive technologies and accessibility for people with learning differences
  • Methodological or policy-related innovations
  • Other innovative areas of inquiry related to emerging learning technologies
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct scholarly activities commensurate with expectations of tenure-track faculty at an AAU research-intensive university
  • Publish in respected refereed scholarly journals salient to the candidate's line of research
  • Vigorously pursue external funding to enhance research activities
  • Advise, engage, and mentor graduate students in research and teaching activities
  • Teach courses (face-to-face, blended, and/or online)
  • Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and the profession

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Doctorate or ABD in relevant academic discipline
  • Expertise in one or more of the areas mentioned above
  • Record of scholarship as demonstrated through publications and presentations at national conferences (commensurate with experience)
  • Evidence of grant-seeking activities
  • Record of relevant teaching experience with diverse populations (commensurate with experience)
  • Ability to positively contribute to national visibility, reputation, and success of IALT and the College
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary teaching and learning environments
  • Evidence of collaboration with faculty, students, and other stakeholders
  • Active engagement with professional organizations
  • Strong knowledge of research methods
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evidence of securing and successfully managing externally-funded projects
  • Evidence of effectively mentoring students
  • Experience in teaching blended and online classes as well as face-to-face classes
  • Ability to lead and collaborate in interdisciplinary R&D teams
  • Technical skills related to relevant area of expertise (e.g., Python, C++, Java, Unity, R, NLP etc.)
