JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Brandywine's Writing Studio, located in the Academic Success Center, is currently seeking part-time Professional Writing Tutors. Tutors assist students with improving academic achievement by providing proactive non-classroom academic instruction. This is a part-time opening, 2-4 days per week for a maximum of 10 hours per week. The opening is based at the Brandywine Campus

Job Duties
  • Assist students one-on-one in weekly tutorials (for writing in English composition courses) or individual appointments (for writing in any course).
  • May conduct student workshops on various writing topics and design Writing Studio handouts and resources.
  • Facilitate individual and small group tutoring sessions; regularly meet with assigned students to review course content and integrate effective study and learning strategies.
  • Review class material with students; discuss text and assignments; coach solutions to problems.
  • Track student progress and provide feedback, while ensuring confidentiality.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A required minimum of a Bachelor?s degree (Master?s degree Preferred) in English or a closely related field.
  • Must be strong writers and speakers with an interest in collaborative pedagogy.
  • Prior experience in the teaching or tutoring of writing is highly desirable but not required.
