SUMMARY:

Assist Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining a Montessori Primary classroom and guiding the learning and ensuring the safety of children age 3-6.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assisting Lead Teacher in guiding children including directing them to activities, giving lessons, redirecting children who may be disruptive to others, observing and recording on-going observations of student lessons, and assisting children at naptime. Other tasks include: maintaining a clean and orderly classroom environment including sanitary and health conditions as required by Colorado child care licensing. Maintaining a snack area including preparing, serving, and cleaning up snacks. Modeling grace and courtesy. Maintaining classroom shelves including organizing, dusting, cleaning, and restocking Practical Life, art, paper cubbies, and children?s personal cubbies. Attending staff meetings and professional training related to Early Childhood licensing requirements and duties of Montessori Primary Assistant. (Example: CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse/Neglect, Montessori Assistant Training). Reading and understanding Parent and Staff Handbooks. Maintain profile in CDHS Colorado Shines platform PDIS.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must enjoy working with young children, have a friendly disposition and have at least 6 months of experience in the care and supervision of 4 or more children under the age of 6. Must be physically strong and able to lift 50 lbs. Assistant duties include the ability to stoop, kneel, and sit on the floor. Must acquire CPR, First aid, FEMA, fingerprints, background checks, Child Abuse Reporting, Medication administration certifications, and Early Childhood Physical within 30 days from the date of hire.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Current early childhood professional Credential Level I Version 3.0 as determined by CDHS Colorado Shines platform PDIS. (This can be started at the time of employment)
