Job Description:

Madison College is hiring a full time Tutoring Center Support Coordinator. This highly dynamic and rewarding position works with a variety of stakeholders to maintain the successful implementation of tutoring services for Madison College. Our tutoring services are open to all Madison College students, with students from many races, backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, preparation, lifestyles, and experiences. No day is the same, from providing student triage at the Welcome desk, to hiring and supervising student employees, to analyzing tutoring data, this position enjoys a variety of responsibilities. In addition to managing the Welcome Desk, this position will serve as the subject matter expert for the tutoring center software.

This position reports to the Manager of the Student Achievement Center - Libraries & Academic Support Services.

This is a full time, hourly position, 40 hours per week. Core SAC hours are 7:30am to 7:00pm, M-R and Fridays 9:00am to 3:00pm. This position works primarily onsite at our Truax campus but may travel to other campuses as needed. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Responsibilities:

Manages the intake desk either directly or through student employees. Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates welcome desk student employees. Monitors, investigates, and follows up on student feedback about tutors and partners, front desk student workers, and/or the tutoring program. Refers as appropriate.

Maintains web schedules of faculty, AEPs, and peer tutors.

Provides backup to LASS/SAC leadership as needed. Participates in projects and assignments from needs assessment and concept development to producing deliverables. Prepares and analyzes reports and data on center tutor usage and trends, persistence and retention, demographics, and support for disaggregated student populations. Evaluates user needs, ensures compliance with data policies, procedures, and services to improve student support. Maintains, shares, and assesses reports gathered from tutor tracking software, Cognos/Data Warehouse, and other data sets. Documents data collection and analysis procedures. Serves on the Unit Data and Assessment team.

Provides technology support to Center in-person and remote users and Partners, requiring a broad knowledge of educational technology and productivity tools, and hardware. Acts as the expert district-wide for the Library, Student Achievement Center, School of Academic Advancement, and other departments as required. Develops and provides training to Librarians and regional student employees on tutor tracking software. Serves on the Library Apps team.

Stays up to date on trends and best practices in student academic support programs and services. Maintains a detailed knowledge of Madison College academic support and library services. Participates in local, statewide, and national professional development opportunities. Participates in, creates, and delivers presentations on tutoring center best practices to learn from, and share with, learning center colleagues locally, and statewide.

Acts as backup to the regional/metro campus Libraries and Student Achievement Centers helping with class reserve collection, updating student accounts, explaining library services and policy, helping students find materials, logging in and out of Tutor Trac and matching students to tutors and directing students to other solutions as appropriate.

Participates in strategic and long-range planning for Academic Support Services to align with Unit plans, the College's Strategic Plan, and Academic Plan, Strategic Enrollment Plan and CAS Standards.

Coordinates with other departments to plan and present tours to students, prospective students, new students, special populations, and parents. Conducts class visits and staffs tabling events on behalf of the Centers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Skill in Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing

Demonstrated skill in communication and human relations with population of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and person with disabilities.

Strong customer service skills, along with knowledge of student development, learning styles and support strategies as applied in higher education.

Ability to plan and organize work responsibilities in an effective and timely way, independently and collaboratively with faculty partners, team members, librarians, students, and others in an ever-changing, busy, and demanding environment.

Experience, or ability, to hire, supervise and train student employees.

Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, TutorTrac, PeopleSoft, Cognos, Navigate, or similar enterprise academic support tracking and Library software. General knowledge of academic technologies such as Blackboard.

Knowledge of print and online tools and information resources used in academic support.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing this position. --Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.

Three (3) years of relative work experience.
