Duties
Coordinates recreation information, opportunities and needs for the target population of eligible single active duty, single parent and geographical bachelors belonging to Henderson Hall in the National Capital area. Maintains high level of visibility with patrons through innovative methods of outreach. Coordinates feedback to commands on issues that affect the Quality of Life of the target population. Maintains contact with responsible representatives of the command, special interest groups, local community officials, civic organizations and other public officials as required in the performance of duties.
Represents the Henderson Hall SMP at conferences, seminars, workshops and formal and informal meetings attended by diverse personnel. Plans, markets, and conduct ongoing programs, many which occur during normal off duty hours and weekends. Educates and acquaints personnel with program opportunities through activities such as command briefs, trips, sports tournaments, etc. Forms, coordinates and maintains a network or teams of personnel, to develop a path of communication and provide programming ideas and assistance. Oversees an Executive Council of active duty personnel to plan various group activities.
Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring and mentoring employees; approaching and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel action, completing performance reviews and timekeeping documents, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Active alertness to alcohol abuse ability to take appropriate action.
Plans, schedules, organizes work, and manage internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economy of managed assets. Arranges for supplies and equipment necessary to support all facets of the program. Prepares and conducts briefings and orientations concerning the various aspects of the Single Marine Program for higher headquarters, commands, distinguished visitors, newly arrived single and unaccompanied service members, various base organizations, and local community businesses. Introduces and helps newly arrived service members adjust to the local area and culture. Advises base organizations and special interest groups on the use of recreation facilities and needs of the single service members. Incumbent works with MCCS facilities and managers, MCCS special events staff, and Commands aboard the installations.
Adheres to established Internal Control procedures to include management of all assigned property and proper cash handling. Effectively supports and ensures compliance with Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity policies, and ensures compliance with sexual harassment prevention, fire, safety, and other environmental issues.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks question to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.

Qualifications
Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, techniques, and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administering, and conducting leisure time activities. Knowledge of the entire scope of activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of Marine Corps Community Services and its mission. Ability to coordinate a large volunteer program with command, community, and civic leaders. Ability to solve problems that arise from managing large, diverse groups of people. Ability to market the program and motivate eligible patrons. Must possess managerial and administrative skills necessary to accomplish the mission of the program. Functions include supervising others, budgeting, programming, fiscal processes, monitoring of equipment needs, facility expansion or replacement requirements, etc. Three years of recreation/leisure services experience or a degree in recreation or related field which demonstrates the following: knowledge of principles, techniques and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administering, and conducting leisure activities. Must be able to obtain a Class B Drivers License and CPR/First Aid Certificates. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be skilled in Microsoft Office programs. Must possess strong decision-making abilities. May be required to work some evenings and weekends. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred.
