My Brother?s Keeper Project Director(s) - Grades 5-12

Description: The purpose of the My Brother?s Keeper Family and Community Engagement Project (FCEP) is to increase the academic achievement and college and career readiness of boys and young men of color. The My Brother?s Keeper Project Director(s) shall have strong relationships and contacts with district staff, community agencies and other interested parties.

Reports To: Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Salary: $45,000-$70,000 - Experience will be taken into consideration

Responsibilities:
  • Work with principals, counselors, and families to recruit boys and young men of color into the program.
  • Schedule and coordinate all project activities
  • Work with families and partners to recruit families of boys of color into the parent education activities.
  • Work through school counselors to connect parents to teaching and learning goals for their child(ren)
  • Work with families of boys and young men of color to build family engagement through evidenced based activities as parent workshops, parent-child training, counseling sessions, videos, and home visiting.
  • Work with parents and the community to strengthen family and community involvement, to improve communication between home and school, to provide parents with volunteering activities, to involve families in their children?s homework, to include parents in the school decision-making process, and to coordinate resources and services from the community.
  • Work with partners to develop programs for parent education, fatherhood training, youth leadership development, civic responsibility, community service, enrichment activities, mentorship, college and career pathways, AP/dual credit courses, and professional development of staff.
  • Work with partners to provide meetings, speaking engagements, and other collaborative efforts to improve advocacy, targeted interventions, increase family knowledge on learning and pathways, and increasing staff knowledge and understanding of culturally responsive practices and pedagogy.
  • Work with Principals and the BCSD Extended School Day program provide families with safe and equitable access to school building so they may engage in volunteer activities, training, shared-decision making, and other activities.
