Job description: Position Summary

Skagit Valley College (SVC) Diesel Technology Program seeks a part-time Lab Aide (Lab Helper) to assist students with daily lab activities. This would be for a maximum of 14 hours per week, Monday - Thursday, typically 8:30 AM - noon. Actual hours could vary depending on the daily class schedule for the week. A successful applicant would start immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor students for safe work habits.
  • Check out tools for students when needed.
  • Answer any technical questions students might have according to their level of expertise.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A basic understanding of most diesel-industry systems is desirable for the purposes of monitoring students for safe working habits.
  • A basic knowledge of various tools used in the diesel industry.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prior diesel-industry shop experience.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including mobility in a shop environment.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Some teaching and/or mentoring experience.

Salary and Benefits:
  • The rate of pay is $25.00 per hour.
  • Eligibility for benefits is in compliance with state rules and regulations.
