Position Summary



Indiana University, Department of Philosophy, Bloomington, IN. Assistant Professor, tenure-track, beginning August 2024.

Basic Qualifications



The Department of Philosophy at Indiana University Bloomington ( ) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in the fall of 2024. AOS: Metaphysics and Epistemology, broadly construed to include metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language, mind and action, philosophical logic, logic and philosophy of mathematics. AOC: Open. The normal teaching load is 4 courses annually, divided equally between Fall and Spring Semester. Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research expected; Ph.D. in Philosophy required at time of appointment or soon after.



A full dossier will include a cover letter, CV, dissertation abstract, writing sample, at least three letters of recommendation, a research statement, a teaching statement, a statement on fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in and out of the classroom, and evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as teaching evaluations. The department will conduct preliminary video-conference interviews in December and invite a short list of candidates for on-campus interviews in early 2024. Applicants should apply online. .
