Position Highlights The University Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT) seeks an Instructional Designer I to join our vibrant team of educators who are committed to instructional excellence. UCATT provides inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices, course design, and instructional technologies to promote impactful learning across campus. You will collaborate with instructors in the continuous improvement of online courses by providing instructional design support within the university???s learning management system. Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluate course design using rubrics and provide specific feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Evaluate courses for the incorporation of Universal Design for Learning, interaction, social presence, and community among students, and between students and instructors.
- Collaborate with faculty on the redesign of learning activities and authentic assessments that encourage critical thinking skills and student-centered online learning.
- Partner with faculty and subject matter experts to implement feedback from reviews and to maintain and revise fully online courses.
- Assist faculty with the incorporation of instructional technology to promote communication and collaborative student engagement.
- Support the modification and development of video and interactive learning objects.
- Maintain detailed course records related to instructional design processes.
- Ensure comprehensive support to UCATT team members and partners, including timely communication over email, in project management software, and in person.
- Provide support to various stakeholders in the instructional design process (including, but not limited to, graduate students, student workers, faculty, and staff) as they create and maintain online course materials.
- Collaborate closely with the instructional design team at Digital Learning to maintain consistent quality of courses across Arizona Online.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of best design practices for the development of online learning environments.
- Familiar with ADA compliance, accessibility issues, and universal design principles.
- Knowledge of technical writing, content authoring, content organization, and content mapping.
- Bachelor???s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- One year of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related academic discipline.
- 2+ years of experience working directly with college faculty in the development of online courses.
- Training in instructional design, educational technology, or related field.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (such as Desire2Learn).
- Experience taking a fully-online course.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, video editing, or graphic design.
- Project management experience and the ability to prioritize tasks as aligned with current goals and initiatives.
