REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor

CONTRACT: 180 days/ 7 hours daily

STATUS: Exempt

Position Summary:
Create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for Education by each pupil's ability; and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Essential Duties:
  • Teaches French foreign language to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Utilizes grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils' progress and interpret the school program.
  • Interact with pupils, staff, and parents positively and professionally.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and meeting their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Establish rapport with pupils and provides a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
  • Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Certification Requirements:

Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification approved by Oklahoma State Department of Education.

FRENCH: Must meet Highly Qualified Requirements.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Basic knowledge of technology principles. General knowledge of computers and related technology devices. Ability to systematically troubleshoot standard computers. Ability to diagnose and resolve fundamental technical issues. Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for tasks. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Ability to work without supervision and work as a team player. Demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively. Strong customer focus; service-oriented attitude. Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to speak clearly in a well-modulated voice with good diction. Ability to read, write, and interpret English in various forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
